1. Who we are
Jackson's Golden Assets LLC, operating as Mandate, is a Michigan limited liability company. Mandate is a mobile application that provides nonpartisan summaries of federal legislation and tracks how members of Congress vote.
This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you use the Mandate iOS app or the mandateapp.org website.
2. Information we collect
To provide and improve the Mandate service, we collect the following categories of personal information:
- Email address (account creation)
- ZIP code or street address (to identify which congressional district and representatives you have — REQUIRED for the product's core function)
- Topic categories you select
- Bills you track
- Notification preferences
- Subscription status and history (collected via our payment processor, not stored directly)
- Usage analytics (which screens you visit, which features you use — never tied to your identity in ways that would be sellable or shareable)
- Crash and error reports (technical diagnostics only)
- Push notification token (so your device can receive alerts you've opted into)
3. Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your political affiliation.
- We do not collect or infer your voting history.
- We do not collect contacts, photos, browsing history outside the app, or location data beyond your ZIP code.
- We do not collect biometric data.
- We do not maintain a persistent identifier across other apps or websites.
4. How we use information
We use the information we collect to operate and improve Mandate. This includes resolving your congressional district from your ZIP code, surfacing your representatives in the app, and sending you the notifications you asked for. We use debugging information and aggregate analytics to maintain and improve the product. We process payments through our subscription processor. We use your contact information to communicate about your account and material changes to the service.
5. How we share information
- We do not sell personal information. Ever.
- We share with service providers strictly necessary to operate the service: hosting, payment processing, analytics, error tracking, push notification delivery. Each is bound by data processing agreements consistent with the protections in this policy.
- We may disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order, lawful government request) or to protect rights, property, or safety.
6. Data retention
- Account data is retained while your account is active.
- On account deletion, we delete personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., financial records for tax purposes — kept 7 years).
7. Your rights
You have the right to access a copy of the personal information we hold about you, the right to correct inaccurate information, and the right to request deletion of your account and associated data. California residents (CCPA) and EU/UK residents (GDPR) have additional rights, including the right to opt out of certain data processing. To exercise any of these rights, email curtis@mandateapp.org.
8. Children
Mandate is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure; we make no guarantee against unauthorized access.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
